Parametric 3D CAD, built in pure Rust.

SolidCraft is an open-source CAD app: sketch, constrain and build solids on a parametric feature timeline. Change a dimension and the whole model rebuilds — on your desktop, in your browser, or driven by AI agents.

Key features

Early but usable for simple parts — Apache-2.0 licensed.

🦀

Pure Rust

B-rep modeling kernel and UI (egui + wgpu) written in Rust, fast and memory-safe.

📐

Parametric timeline

Sketches with constraints and named parameters; extrude, fillet, shell, patterns — edit any value and everything rebuilds.

🖥️

Desktop & web

Installers for Windows, macOS and Linux (AppImage, .deb, .rpm, Snap, Flatpak), plus a WebAssembly build that runs in the browser.

🤖

MCP for AI agents

A built-in Model Context Protocol server lets AI assistants create, measure, screenshot and export parts.

📦

STEP / STL export

Export STEP (AP242), IGES, 3MF, STL and OBJ; import STEP and IGES solids and assemblies.

✅

Verified geometry

Reference parts are checked against analytic or FreeCAD-computed volume, area and centre of mass.

Quick start

Grab a build, or compile from source.

1 · Download

Get the installer for your OS from the latest release, or open the web app. Builds aren't signed yet — on Windows choose More info → Run anyway; on macOS right-click → Open.

sudo snap install solidcraft

2 · Build from source

git clone https://github.com/bherbruck/solidcraft
cd solidcraft
cargo run --release -p solidcraft -- --sample
cargo run --release -p solidcraft-cli -- \
  run examples/bracket.json --out bracket.step

Let AI model with you

Connect Claude Code or any MCP client to the headless CLI.

claude mcp add solidcraft -- solidcraft-cli mcp

Tools include set_parameter, screenshot, export, undo/redo, open and save. See docs/mcp.md.
